Specialty Foods Company: Fending-off a Class Action Lawsuit During a Bankruptcy

Case Study Image

A New York-based producer and marketer of olive oils and Mediterranean specialty foods found it necessary to file a Chapter 11 case in the wake of an expensive class-action lawsuit claiming it had misrepresented the authenticity of its olive oil brand.

Bob Gold & Associates worked closely with company executives and the company’s attorneys in communicating an orderly process while also handling regional and trade press inquiries. The agency fashioned talking points and messaging reinforcing the brand as a longtime, trusted family business and employer.

The consumer brand won confirmation of its reorganization plan, and a judge later denied the class-action bid to hold the company responsible for alleged fraud. The company continues to thrive today.
