Universal Electronics, Inc.: Gaining Exposure for the Worldwide Smart Home Leader During a Crowded CES Conference

Case Study Image

Despite producing a device management solution that powers over 500 Million devices globally, Universal Electronics, Inc. (UEI) received limited recognition for its many first-to-market innovations that have helped transform the home entertainment industry, among others.

Working as a white label provider, the company lacked branding and could not include its name on the products it designed and manufactured. The challenge for Bob Gold & Associates (BG&A) was to make Universal Electronics a more well-known name through a series of media placements in order to break through the clutter at some of the most anticipated tech trade shows including the Consumer Electronics Show, Cable-Tec Expo, ISC West, and others.

UEI’s QuickSet solution is a widely deployed technology powering consumer electronic brands including set-top boxes, televisions, gaming consoles, smartphones, and tablets to enable effortless configuration and control of nearly any connected home entertainment device as well as an expanding range of popular home automation devices.

The BG&A team worked closely with UEI to coordinate publicity efforts on its range of innovative home entertainment and security solutions and a series of new remote designs. Our approach was to position UEI as a thought leader and the behind the scenes game-changer in the Smart Home industry. BG&A’s integrated campaign included tactics such as news releases and media briefings positioning UEI as the go-to source for innovation.

BG&A distributed three news releases, secured multiple earned interviews for executives and generated 18 original story placements in trade publications including TWICE, BTR, LightReading, SMAHome, Investor’s Business Daily, OCBJ, Rapid TV News as well as Multichannel News, and many others.
