Thomas W. Campo

Senior PR & Corporate Investor Relations Counselor

Tom Campo represents Bob Gold & Associates in New York City.  His investor relations background is an invaluable addition to our clients.

Campo continues to counsel Hearst Television, one of the nation’s largest TV station groups. He earlier served as that company’s head of investor relations and corporate communications when it was publicly traded as Hearst-Argyle Television.

Under Campo’s leadership, Hearst-Argyle Television’s 2003 annual report earned a NAIC “Best of Industry” Nicholson Award; the company was cited in Barron’s as “the sector’s blue chip” and in 2007, 2008 and 2009 was included among Forbes’ list of “America’s 100 Most Trustworthy Companies” – the only media company recognized three times at that point.   Other honors that were secured by Campo include having the CEO, David Barrett, named 2004 “Broadcaster of the Year” by Broadcasting & Cable magazine, which also named him to its Hall of Fame in 2008, and in 2005 Barrett was named to the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Management Hall of Fame and the Institutional Investor list of “America’s Best CEOs.”

Prior to joining Hearst, Campo served with the corporate/financial PR firm Adams & Rinehart, Inc. (a unit of Ogilvy & Mather), where he specialized in strategic communications for friendly and contested mergers and acquisitions and played key roles on behalf of Paramount Communications’ attempted acquisition of Time Inc. and McCaw Cellular’s successful acquisition of the cellular assets of LIN Broadcasting (forming the backbone of what eventually became AT&T’s cellular network), among other transactions.

Campo is a graduate of Tufts University, where he majored in economics.  He is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute’s Senior Roundtable; he has served on a joint National Association of Broadcasters / Television Bureau of Advertising communications advisory panel and Investor Relations Magazine “IR Think Tanks,” among other forums; and is a published author of Getting Your Message Across: IR & PR Executives Offer Leadership Strategies & Keys to Success
